Who We Are |
The Minnesota Senior Federation is an alliance of more than 10,000 adults working to give voice to those issues of importance to senior Minnesotans. Through its eleven Regions, the Minnesota Senior Federation has statewide presence. - The Minnesota Senior Federation is a statewide organization with a national presence. While the Federation primarily focuses on state and local issues and programs we have also become a national leader on issues that are not be adequately addressed by national senior organizations. Examples include the cost of prescription drugs and the unfairness of Medicare funding that hurts seniors in the upper Midwest, and the Medicare Modernization Act. Our nationally renowned prescription drug program is an example of its enterprising, solution-oriented approach to improving the quality of lives for thousands of Minnesotans. Membership in the Federation is open to all regardless in what state you live.
- The Minnesota Senior Federation is a respected resource on issues of importance to a widening age group. Seniors know that their effectiveness is enhanced when they are collective in action, definitive in their focus and demonstrate a sense of urgency and deep commitment.
- The Minnesota Senior Federation is non-profit. We are Minnesota non-profit 501-c-3 organization. The organizational budget of our State and Regional Budgets is approximately $1.5 annually. In 2004 only 18% of the organization’s expenses were for Management, Administration and Fundraising. To view our Federal 990 Form click here.
- The Minnesota Senior Federation is non-partisan - As a non-partisan organization we do not endorse political candidates or political parties. Our advocacy work works to support issues and not particular parties or candidates.
The Minnesota Senior Federation is grass roots – Both administrative as well as public policy positions are developed, promoted, and adopted by our members. Issues normally are identified by regional or statewide issue committees are adopted by annual regional Conventions held in the spring of the year and our statewide convention held each October. You, as member, help decide what local, state, and national issues will be the Federation’s priorities.
