Federation efforts help suspend Medicare payment cuts
Congress struggled for the first two weeks of July to reverse Medicare reimbursement cuts to physicians. On July 15 both the House and the Senate voted to override President Bush’s veto of this legislation, giving a reprieve to seniors threatened with the unavailability of health care. |

The Minnesota Senior Federation annual convention will be Monday, October 20, 2008. A highlight of the convention will be the Elder Statesmen Roundtable, featuring former Minnesota governors. A registration form is available online. |
Senior Partners Care increased income/asset levels attract enrollees
Senior Partners Care, the 34-year-old Federation program that helps moderate income Medicare enrollees bridge the “Mediare gap,” announced an increase in maximum income and asset levels in March 2008. Asset levels for singles and for couples increased to $41,700 (excluding one car and a home). Income levels rise to $1,733 per month for singles and $2,333 for couples. |
