House hears MnSF property tax proposal
The Minnesota Senior Federation-supported legislation establishing a 5 percent limit to what the property tax can take from a Minnesota homestead property owner’s income was heard in the property tax division of the House of Representatives tax committee Feb. 23.  We need you to make a phone call to House representatives.

Metro Paint-a-Thon lines up eligible seniors with free paint job
All across the metro area on Aug. 4 and 5, teams of volunteers will be painting homes of low-income seniors and disabled homeowners for the 2007 Paint-A-Thon, a program of the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches.

MnSF supports appropriations for Older Americans Act programs
The Older Americans Act (OAA) is the backbone of services to America’s aging population.  With strong support from the Minnesota Senior Federation, in collaboration with the National Council on Aging, Congress reauthorized the OAA in the fall of 2006, strengthening it in numerous ways and adding important new initiatives.
Attorney general files suit against living trust and annuities companies
The suit is intended to stop deceptive sales to Minnesota seniors in violation of the law.
