Did you notice the wish list in last month’s Minnesota Senior News? It was called the Top Ten List and mentioned top items on the MnSF wish list. I’m very happy to report that a few of you did, indeed, notice. In fact, one of our members paid so much attention that he contacted us and offered to match dollar for dollar all donations toward items on that list up to $20,000! I did a quick total of all the items - $33,558. Imagine, if we reached the goal of $20,000 and added the match, we could cover all the items on the wish list and be $6,442 ahead for the next six items that we couldn’t publish because we stopped at ten. The matching gift offer lasts until Sept. 9 so the wish list will be published at least two more times. If you ever wanted to see your hard-earned dollar work harder, this would be the time. You have a guarantee of doubling your investment in the Minnesota Senior Federation and knowing exactly how it will be spent. You’ll be able to point with pride to a computer, a State Fair exhibit, or the boardroom table and say, “I helped with that.” I wish I could tell you the name of our benefactor regarding this gift, but as I’ve noticed with many of our very generous members, he wishes to remain anonymous. I can tell you that as I sat with this gentleman, he related his outlook on life by reciting a portion of the writings of Nelson Mandela. One passage in particular stood out - no one accomplishes anything alone, but together we can create forces for good in the world. I’d like to think he was considering the Minnesota Senior Federation as an opportunity to unite for the good of all. As you page through this issue of Senior News, take a moment to ponder the Top Ten Wish List. Our anonymous donor really wants to help us out, but more than that, he doesn’t want to do it alone. Can you consider honoring his commitment with one of your own? Thank you. Be sure to designate your gift for the Top Ten Wish List so it qualifies for the match. c |
