Two Vistas join MnSF PDF Print E-mail

The Senior Federation welcomes two new Americorps*VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) members, Peter Meidal and Doug Schelske. Peter and Doug will serve full time for one year with the Federation's health education and outreach department building our presence throughout the metro area.

Peter Meidal recently graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in history. He was born and raised in Minnesota and has been living for the last three years in Minneapolis.

When he is not working or involved with some project, his friends and family can find him at some type of museum, concert, or theatre production. "I love the arts! I also love to run, play tennis and be outdoors," he says.

He hopes to do some type of graduate work in the near future with a possible emphasis in public health administration and policy.

Doug Schelske is an MnSF Vista working on Medicare Part D and membership. You may recognize him from his most recent position helping in the MnSF issues section.

Doug's main hobby is fishing. He vacations in North Dakota and fishes for trophy Northern. He volunteers with the tenant advisory committee of the Minneapolis Public Housing Agency where he serves as chair. He's active in the Elders and Youth in Education after school program for Volunteers of America.
