MnSF-Northwest Metro chapter will hold its Senior Legislative Candidates Forum for state representatives and senators in the western suburbs Sept. 15. Legislative districts to participate in this forum include district No. 32 (Maple Grove, Rogers), No. 45 (New Hope, Crystal, Brooklyn Park), No. 46 (New Hope, Crystal) and No. 47 (Coon Rapids, Champlin, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park). All major party candidates have been invited. This Northwest Metro Forum will be held 9-11 a.m. at Brooklyn Park Community Center, 5600- 85th Ave. N., Brooklyn Park. It has become a tradition in election years for the Federation's Norwest chapter and other community organizations to sponsor candidate forums to provide an opportunity for candidates and the community to learn about and take action on key issues affecting older Minnesotans. Key issues that will be addressed at the forum this year are affordable housing, long-term care, equitable property tax relief, transportation, prescription drug costs and universal health care for all Minnesotans. Seniors and others are encouraged to attend and take this opportunity to direct questions to candidates on issues that directly affect them. This forum, as well as the others sponsored by the Federation, are free and open to the public. Northwest chapter serves Anoka, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Coon Rapids, Corcoran, Crystal, Dayton, Golden Valley, Hanover, Hassen, New Hope, Maple Grove, Osseo, Plymouth, Robbinsdale and Rogers.
