Challenge Grant 2006 Results! The Minnesota Senior Federation recently received $24,579 in response to a challenge grant of $20,000, set up to meet needs expressed on a top ten wish list, for a total gift of $44,579. The challenge ended Sept. 9 and MnSF recorded its largest-ever gift income in a two-week period, the final two weeks of the campaign, including all gifts and pledges postmarked by the deadline. The challenge, initiated in June by a member benefactor, was unprecedented in the organization’s history and generated renewed interest in funding basic equipment needs and operational costs. As of this writing, it’s unknown whether the challenge grant donor will match funds beyond the original $20,000 offer, but all funds will go toward the programs and items for which they were designated. “The result is overwhelming,” said Bob Ansel, chair of the financial development committee. “Our members and friends responded to the challenge in a big way and saw their generous gifts doubled. It was a unique opportunity in this organization. Thank you to everyone who participated. A substantial portion of operating and program costs will now be covered.” |
