The Minnesota Senior Federation and Metropolitan Interfaith Council on Affordable Housing (MICAH) have partnered on an upcoming candidate forum to focus on community and housing issues. The forum will focus on state legislative candidates running in districts covering Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan, Lakeville and Rosemount (districts 36A, 37A, 37B, 38A, 38B and 40A), and will take place at Mary Mother of the Church, 3333 E. Cliff Rd., Burnsville, Oct. 3, 7-9 p.m. All candidates for these districts are invited to participate. The evening will begin with short presentations covering the latest demographic trends in Dakota County and how they reflect housing, transportation, health care and education needs in the county. The evening will end in break-out sessions by district in which attendees will have the opportunity to ask their prospective state senator and representative questions. The event is an occasion for voters and candidates to educate themselves about important issues. Voters will learn where their candidates stand on issues, so they can make informed choices at the voting booth in November. For information, call the Senior Federation at 651/783-5004. |
