Federation members and staff were saddened to learn of the death of 20-year-member and chair of the travel committee, Tom Medley, who died Sept. 10. Medley and his wife, Pat, were in active leadership roles at the Federation. Tom was on the Metro board of directors and previous chair of the events committee, helping plan many Metro conventions. Medley also held leadership roles in the Federation's South Metro Chapter. The Medley’s recently celebrated their 60th year of marriage. They were blessed with nine children, 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Tom served in the Navy during WWII and retired from the Bloomington Public School District after 20 years of service. He was well known and loved by many as Olee the Clown as a member of the Aqua Jesters Clown Club for 40 years. Fellow Federation members will miss Medley’s leadership and dedication. He will always be remembered as a kind and gentle man who believed that volunteering at the Federation bettered the lives of seniors in Minnesota. |
