MnSF Property Tax Survey
Thanks to everyone who returned the MnSF property tax survey. The information gathered is invaluable. It shows legislators how individuals are adversely affected by property taxes, particularly the percentage of a Minnesotan's income that is taken by the property tax.
The Federation's 2007 legislative goal is to have established a percentage limit to what the property tax can take from a homestead property owner. To this end, please fill out and return the following form if you have not done so already. Information can be found on your County Assessor's "Proposed Property Tax for 2007" - also known a "Truth in Taxation Notice" that was sent to all homestead property owners in November. We need both metro and out-state data.
Example: Truth in Taxation Notice
2005 Taxable Market Value for 2006 taxes: - $234,000 homestead* 2006 Taxable Market Value for 2007 taxes: - $261,000 homestead* (1) (2) Actual 2006 Proposed 2007 Property Tax Property Tax Total excluding special assessments $3,070.00* $3,351.68*
Fill in the information from your notice into the form below. Fill in your market values, tax(*) and income. If you use form 1040 your income is on line 38. If form 1040A is used your income in on line 22. If form 1040 EZ is used, your income is on line 4. All income information will be kept strictly confidential!

We would emphasize that your individual information is never shown to anyone. All that is shown to legislators is the percentage increases that are derived from all the data we receive. Income information is vital so that legislators can be shown how great a bite property taxes are taking from Minnesota homeowners' incomes. Thanks for your help.
