Metro Region Chapter Corner PDF Print E-mail

This new feature of the Metro Section serves to update members from across the region on the activities of our regional chapters. Get involved with your local chapter! It is an excellent way to engage with other members and leaders on all the things that make the Federation and Minnesota great!

THE PURPOSE OF CHAPTERS:

1. They enable members to become more involved in issues affecting older Minnesotans, with an emphasis on local or community issues.

2. They provide members and representatives of Federation affiliated organizations in the community important and timely information regarding issues, services and programs that will make retirement more rewarding and productive.

3. They empower members-at-large (those who do not belong to an affiliated organization) to have a more active voice and purpose within the Senior Federation.

4. They give members an opportunity to meet and get to know other Senior Federation members.

CHAPTER RELATIONSHIPS WITH AFFILIATED ORGANIZATIONS

  • Chapters serve to work with affiliated organizations on identified and agreed upon local issues.
  • Chapters act as an MSF resource to affiliated groups in local communities.
  • Affiliated organizations should be encouraged to have representatives on their respective chapter steering committee.

CHAPTER ACCOUNTABILITY

1. Chapter issue work must either be in conformity with stated positions of the MSF or in the event of new issues, prior approval of the MSF Board of Directors must be given before action is taken.

2. Chapters are encouraged to affiliate with local issue coalitions on issues of commonality. All relationships should be approved by the MSF Board of Directors prior to affiliation.
