All across the metro area on Aug. 4 and 5, teams of volunteers will be painting homes of low-income seniors and disabled homeowners for the 2007 Paint-A-Thon, a program of the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches. Last year 124 homes were painted. Paint-A-Thon volunteers scrape, prime and paint the exterior of clients’ homes in Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington counties at no cost to the homeowner. To qualify for this program you must: Own and occupy the single-family home that needs painting. Paint-A-Thon does not paint duplexes, rental properties or homes the owner no longer occupies, nor do they prepare homes to go up for sale. - The home must be in need of paint, but not major repairs. Only exteriors are painted.
- Home must be in the counties mentioned above.
- Applicants must be over the age of 60, or have a permanent disability.
Applicants must meet the following monthly income guidelines: 1 person - $1,633, 2 people - $2,200, 3 people - $2,766, 4 people - $3,333 and 5 people - $3,900
To apply for this program, call 612/721-8687 ext. 321 or go to gmcc.org/paint-a-thon for an application form. Application deadline is May 11. |
