Make a resolution to take in your MnSF convention and make a difference PDF Print E-mail

By Eileen Iverson
MnSF vice president of programs

Though it seems early in the year, it really is not when it comes to considering what Federation members and regions need to take care of.

Regional conventions take place in April and May, except for one. At those conventions, regions will decide on resolutions to send to the state Federation for inclusion in resolutions that will come before the Minnesota Senior Federation Convention in October in Little Falls.

One might think there is no rush, but consolidating resolutions from all regions takes a lot of time and we like to see a rough draft of the total package before the convention.

It’s time to think about candidates for the Board of Directors, too. Every region, yes every region, has the responsibility to search for leaders from the region so that those leaders can be leaders for the Minnesota Senior Federation. We cannot be a grass-roots organization if we do not do that.

Have you been reading about the most recent programs the Federation is offering to its members? The AAA insurance and travel plans offer discounts to our members. The new dental plan will be of help to many of our members who do not have insurance and need it. Many Federation members are finding that the prescription drug discount program the Federation has offers better prices than the Medicare Part D plan they have. If you have a low-premium plan, it could be cheaper to pay the premium but order your meds from our discount program. Each person’s needs are different, so only you can decide what is best for you.

My best wishes for a great convention in every region.
