For the past six months, a team of members from across the state has been working diligently to develop an organizational structure that will move the Minnesota Senior Federation forward in the next several decades. The proposal both streamlines the governance and policy development of the organization, while at the same time encouraging significant participation of the membership in both the electoral process for the board of directors and in service to seniors across the state through committees reporting to the board. While presentations to describe the proposed structure are continuing at regional gatherings it is important to note that resolutions to adopt the new structure will be presented at all regional conventions this spring. “Moving forward with this newly reconstituted structure is critical for the ongoing viability of the statewide organization and our ability as a grassroots entity to continue to provide a strong voice for senior issues at the capitol,” said Lee Graczyk, interim director of the state entity. Dexter Pehl, a member of the committee that worked on restructuring and a leader in Heartland Region, added his support, “I think this new organizational structure will help us move forward and grow in the years ahead. I strongly support its adoption.” For more information, check with your regional leadership for the time and place of a presentation outlining the plans. And make sure to participate in your regional convention to voice and vote on the resolution creating one strong and viable Minnesota Senior Federation. |
