Federation commits to doubling its VISTA personnel to reach statewide PDF Print E-mail

The Minnesota Senior Federation has been approved to expand its current AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) health outreach and education program from five VISTA members to ten, serving across the state.

VISTA is a challenging national volunteer program for people who have a strong desire to help others in their own community. VISTA members generally have a four-year degree or significant life experience (there is no upper age limit).

VISTA volunteers will be valuable members of the outreach team while they learn about seniors’ health care options and empower seniors in their community to make their own decisions. In return for their service, VISTAs receive a monthly living allowance (approximately $800) and an end-of-service award (either a $4,725 education award or $1,200). Free to low-cost housing support may also be available.

If you are ready to commit to 40 hours/week for one year to make a difference in your community, apply at www.americorps.gov or call Angie Ritter, 651/783-5019 or toll-free 877-645-0261 ext. 5019.
