Congressman Walz pays surprise visit to South Central convention PDF Print E-mail

U.S. Rep. Tim Walz made a surprise visit to South Central Region's annual convention June 4. He talked about the need to leverage the purchasing power of the U.S. government so that seniors can afford their prescription medicine. Walz, a first-term Congressman in Minnesota's first district, was able to attend after an important vote in Washington was postponed.

South Central delegates also heard from Rep. Kathy Brynaert (23B) who recapped what did and didn't happen at the legislature this past year. South Central delegates also passed resolutions setting the stage for joining as one organization at the MnSF state convention this fall.

Additionally, South Central welcomed Marianne Zerbe as a new Vista Volunteer serving counties in southeastern Minnesota (click here for story).

South Central director, Lynn VanDervort, noted that she and Marianne will be at county fairs across southern Minnesota in upcoming months. They have confirmed dates for Scott, Brown, Blue Earth and Fairmont counties, with more dates pending in Fillmore, Winona and Olmstead counties.
