Responsibilities: Candidates will be required to... 1) Maintain a high level priority of response to his/her Board functions and assignments. 2) Attend and thoughtfully contribute at all board and assigned committee meetings and other functions or special events fulfilling all special assignments as requested 3) Use effective board practice and procedures such as bylaws, committees, Roberts' Rules of Order and consensus building procedures 4) Represent the organization to the public and encourage others to become significant stakeholders in the organization 5) Assist with hiring, evaluation, management, compensation and if necessary, termination of the Executive Director 6) Be involved in regular strategic thinking and planning relative to the organization's future and its relationship with other community organizations 7) Understand and be able to communicate the organization's mission and vision in the public arena 8) Maintain an effective relationship with the Executive Director, supporting her/his position as the chief executive officer of the organization 9) Develop, approve and monitor appropriate policies for the effective operation and management of the organization 10) Maintain appropriate and congenial working relationships with staff, and the membership Application for Consideration of Nomination to the New Minnesota Senior Federation Board of Directors
