The MnSF-Metro Region South Metro Chapter will meet Friday, Nov. 9, at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, 76th & Chicago Avenue, Richfield. Social time and coffee start at 9:30 a.m. with the meeting convening at 10 a.m. A program is being planned to recognize our veterans. Guest speaker will be Ted Nemzek, Korean war veteran, who received the “11 Who Care Volunteer Award” in 2006 and lives on the belief, “When you volunteer, you always receive more than you give.” Over the past decade, Ted has been involved with the Memorial Rifle Squad at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. He has been part of more than 4,000 funerals for veterans buried at Fort Snelling. Ted writes a monthly newsletter for the squadrons and serves on the Memorial Chapel Foundation. Ted is also involved with Learning Exchange, where he spends many hours helping with community education classes for adults with developmental disabilities. The business meeting will include an update on the Minnesota Senior Federation annual convention and the new reorganization process. The meetings are free and open to the public and no reservations are required. However, chapter membership is encouraged in addition to Federation membership. Dues collected help toward costs of the quarterly meeting. |
