Support the Senior Federation’s efforts by responding to our year-end appeal PDF Print E-mail

The Minnesota Senior Federation launched its annual year-end fund appeal with a letter to members and friends about the major accomplishments of 2007, including:

  • 2,190 individuals scooped up in a social safety net called Senior Partners Care
  • $2 million recovered in lost pensions for retired workers and their families
  • 62,970 individuals served through the Health Plan Information Center with advice and counsel on health care, Medicare, prescription drugs and home/community-based care
  • 2,504 hours committed to civic engagement at the state legislature to advance public policy that affects the most vulnerable among us.

In addition, the organization moved forward with a unanimous vote to merge eight regions into one statewide organization and elect a new, skills-based board of directors. That board has been meeting regularly to chart new directions for the Minnesota Senior Federation and appoint six additional members.

The year-end fund appeal becomes the backbone of any nonprofit’s strategic plan. While program appeals and issue-oriented appeals attract gifts, the annual fund approaches its stakeholders as a means to state the overall case for giving. It’s one more opportunity to rally around the MnSF mission “to unite people in positive social change through advocacy and services that advance the greatest community benefit and equip seniors to lead productive, dignified and independent lives.”

In addressing members at a recent fundraising event, board chair Barbara Kaufman reminded everyone, “You have been an important agent of change for the public good with your support and commitment to this organization. As we move through the final days of 2007, we’re building plans for the future - a future where those who Ôhave’ take on leadership roles to preserve a legacy of resources and information for the next generation.”

Please consider your gift in light of the huge strides the Minnesota Senior Federation has made in providing advocacy and service to you and countless others. You may use the return coupon provided in the appeal letter or fill out the form below and mail it. You may also make a gift online at www.mnseniors.org. All the beneficiaries thank you.
