Federation offers Medicare class to help new enrollees navigate options PDF Print E-mail

Approaching your 65th birthday or over age 65 and getting ready to retire? If so, chances are that you are overwhelmed by Medicare Parts A, B and D as well as the many health insurance options available to you.

The Minnesota Senior Federation has years’ of experience offering unbiased and clear information to new retirees. Attend one of MnSF’s “Navigating Medicare” sessions and you’ll leave with a clearer understanding of your health care options.

Prior to class, registered participants will receive a copy of the MnSF comprehensive publication, 2008 Health Care Choices, a $10 value, and will be asked to fill out and return a prescription drug worksheet to help them choose Part D coverage. Volunteer counselors use the worksheets for Medicare’s official “Part D Finder,” the only complete computerized data source that results in listing the top three most cost-effective Part D plans, based on a person’s list of medications. Registration is $50 per person (includes a one year membership to MnSF, a $20 value). Participants who want individualized Part D recommendations should mail their completed Rx drug worksheet at least one week prior to class.

Spring sessions will be held:

  • Mon., April 28, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Wed., May 21, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Wed., June 18, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

All sessions are located in the heart of the Twin Cities with easy bus route access and free parking at the MnSF St. Paul office, 1885 University Ave. W., Suite 190, St. Paul. Don’t miss these two-hour classes to help you make the most informed Medicare choices.
