By Ansley Lee Johnson MnSF executive director The economy has affected our budgets just as it has affected yours. We, too, are tightening our belts. Because of costs to produce the Minnesota Senior News (postage, distribution, printing, etc.), and because of less frequent advertising and budgetary and financial limitations of the Federation in the present economy, our Minnesota Senior News will be going to a quarterly publication for the remainder of this year. Our April issue, therefore, has become the spring issue. There will also be summer, fall and holiday issues. Because Minnesota Senior News will be quarterly, we will be placing each issue in its entirety on our website (www.mnseniors.org) along with updates about issues and programs of importance. In addition, we will e-mail or mail members updates and important information on a regular basis. If you use or can receive e-mail, click here to receive updates. We are happy to mail updates to you, and e-mailing them will save us money. Printing and distribution of this issue has been delayed so that every Minnesota Senior Federation Region had an opportunity to get their important dates and information to us for this spring issue. When submitting information for publication, be mindful that each issue will have a two- to three-month shelf-life, so think about the type of article and information that our readers will want to save and call to the attention of family, friends, legislators and neighbors. We trust that you agree that it makes good economic sense to limit our costs at the Minnesota Senior Federation so we can continue to bring our members cost-effective programs and affect important issues impacting seniors throughout Minnesota and beyond. |
